1. What We Collect
TunnerForge is a desktop application. We collect only the minimum data needed to make the product work:
- Account information — email address and name when you create an account (optional; only needed for cloud backup and map sync features).
- Usage analytics — anonymous, aggregated data about which features are used, crash reports, and performance metrics. We use this to improve the product.
- ECU data — your ECU calibration files (maps) are stored locally on your computer. If you opt into cloud backup, they are encrypted and stored securely.
- Payment information — processed entirely by our payment provider (Stripe). We never see or store your credit card details.
2. What We Don't Collect
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
- We do not scan your computer, files, or network.
- We do not collect your ECU files without your explicit opt-in (cloud backup).
- We do not use your tuning data to train AI models or build map databases.
- We do not send telemetry without your consent — analytics are opt-out by default during installation.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide the service — your account lets you sync maps, access the map library, and receive updates.
- To improve the product — crash reports and anonymous usage stats help us fix bugs and prioritize features.
- To communicate — we send occasional emails about updates, new features, and tuning tips. You can unsubscribe anytime.
4. Data Security
Your ECU files are your intellectual property. We treat them accordingly:
- Cloud backups are encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit.
- You control your encryption key — we cannot access your files without it.
- We use industry-standard security practices and regular third-party audits.
- In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users within 72 hours.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access, download, or delete all data associated with your account at any time.
- Opt out of analytics and marketing communications.
- Request a complete data export (we'll provide it within 30 days).
- Delete your account and all associated data permanently.
6. Cookies
Our website uses minimal cookies for essential functionality (session management, CSRF protection). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising networks. Our desktop application does not use cookies.
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third parties to operate our service:
- Stripe — payment processing (their privacy policy)
- AWS (Amazon Web Services) — cloud infrastructure for backups and map sync
- Postmark — transactional email delivery
8. Children's Privacy
TunnerForge is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We will notify you of any material changes to this policy via email and an in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of TunnerForge after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
